While there hasn’t been an actual official announcement, videos have been making the rounds showing “leaked” footage of the Popori race playing as the Fighter (aka Brawler) class.
The screenshot above was taken from a short video (and there is longer footage of a Channelworks run).
However, the work to make more of the classes available for each race should not be a surprise since it does fall inline with the teams objectives for 2019 with regards to the “diversification” as it relates to the “reorganization of existing content” angle in the note that was put out by the product director in December (while that was regarding the open world, the team is going to be looking at making use of existing/dormant assets to extend the lifespan of the game).
From a production point of view, it’s much cheaper/easier to take this route as opposed to designing completely new classes (though it would’ve still been nice if they would have invested the time into a dedicated summoner type as opposed to this pet companion system which is a simpler solution) since that is a much more resource intensive undertaking (designing new skills, working with modelers and animators for actual skill movements and effects, balancing and tuning passes, etc).
