The client initially starts up at your highest resolution (in my case, it defaults to 3840×2160 in Fullscreen mode) and you can’t change the video settings until after you’ve created a character and logged into the game world (after that, I was able to switch back to 2560×1440 and to Windowed Fullscreen) as well as change my keybindings.
The starter quest for the alpha is fairly short (just kill a couple of mobs and the boss) before you enter your Fort and receive the initial quest for your Automaton Shop (your skill station).
