MISTOVER – Krafton’s New Single Player RPG

MISTOVER is one of the new games (for PC, Nintendo Switch, and possibly iOS/Android mobile in the future) that is being released under the KRAFTON Game Union brand (Krafton was previously known as Bluehole while the KRAFTON Game Union is what was previously known as the Bluehole Alliance).

The game is a turn based single player rogue-like RPG that will be launching into Steam Early Access (launch date and pricing not yet known).  Since I normally don’t like to delve much into early access/kickstarters, I was hesitant about mentioning this… but since part of this blog has delved into Bluehole in recent years, I decided to just mention it.  For those (like myself) who were huge fans of turn based dungeon crawlers like Wizardry, this will be like a nostalgic trip back in time to the simpler days of computer gaming (except with much better graphics).  I spent hundreds of hours per each of the initial three scenarios in the franchise during the early to mid-80’s.

Krafton will be self-publishing the game like they did with PUBG in the west (opting not to utilize their NA publishing subsidiary En Masse Entertainment (EME) except for some marketing/PR/support purposes).  I hope EME realizes the sink or swim aspect that pervaded Bluehole before the corporate name change (which has not changed)… they can barely manage what they are currently running including the sole Bluehole/Krafton property (TERA) that is a hold over from the earlier days when EME was initially known as Bluehole Interactive (and thus had the inside track to the publishing rights for North America).
