Previously, Asiasoft (Playpark) was planning to run this beta test for an indeterminate amount of months since the beta launched at the end of April. Due to numerous issues encountered during initial operations (where they went from 24 to 8 hours of service due to poor server stability), bugs and exploits (which caused balance related problems), player feedback, and evaluating these along with content that hasn’t been released yet, the company met with Krafton and both parties have decided to close the current Thai beta test on June 12 at 15:00 (Bangkok local time).
Asiasoft intends to relaunch another Thai beta test once the upcoming second Korea closed beta is completed (and issues found there addressed) The data acquired for the current Thai beta will be used by Krafton to improve the Korean CBT2. There will be a character wipe so that the next Thai beta test can start off from a clean slate.
Seriously, some of this falls squarely on the shoulders of Krafton for allowing this Thai beta test to proceed since it is easier to find the most egregious problems from launching it domestically first (don’t have to deal with communication issues resulting from language and cultural differences). Sure, there may have been money involved that Asiasoft Online and Krafton agreed to so that the Thai/SEA region could launch this beta test earlier. But as their revised schedule shows, the game would’ve benefited from a Korean beta test first (based on what exists now and not the initial Korean CBT from the tail end of 2017) since some of the initial stability issues and game breaking exploits could’ve been dealt with beforehand.
As for the current beta version of A:IR, the game needs some work post level 30 since it is mostly open world mob grinding of repeatable daily quests up to the existing soft cap of level 45. I personally stopped at level 32 since my time would be better spent doing this similar grind in a live release like TERA (post level 65) which as I wrote in another posting, is a good indicator of the crossover between the A:IR and TERA design teams (at least in terms of information sharing and/or personnel working on both games and using that same design philosophy) at Krafton’s Bluehole studio division which handles their MMORPG’s.
