Is Incompetence Contagious?

In real life, the answer to that is obviously no.  In the fantasy world of games and the gaming industry which creates and manages those games, then the answer to that is yes.  The reason for this entry?  The following was tweeted yesterday (Tuesday, December 17th).

📣 Tune in tomorrow! The ArcheAge Livestream starts at 10 AM PT on Wednesday, Dec. 18! Come by as we discuss the ArchePass and more as we address community topics together.

During the Trion days, these live streams were the majority of the time, done on Fridays.  When Gamigo took over and resumed live streaming again, those were done on Fridays.  The following was tweeted out shortly before what was clearly an erroneous prior announcement (they just don’t want to admit it).

📣The stream will be on Friday the 20th of December at 11:30 AM PT, 2:30 PM ET, 8:30 PM CETThe ArcheAge team is preparing for a big update tomorrow so tune in on Friday to discuss the exciting news ahead!https://t.co/cnzsfwpbRX#ArcheAge #AAUnchained pic.twitter.com/GcKNVCw8zh

And lets just add one more to the pile.  An erroneous announcement was pushed in-game today regarding maintenance (which used to take place on Wednesdays, but were moved to Thursdays so as to not interfere with sieges).

So the incompetent bumblings of the personnel who were retained from Trion, are now infecting the European staff.  So incompetence (in the gaming world), is contagious.  So make sure to get vaccinated this holiday season since you really don’t want to catch this particular disease.

Note: I mentioned I wasn’t going to continue covering the level of incompetence that is associated with ArcheAge Unchained… BUT these were way too good to ignore.

We now return to our regular scheduled programming… <bzzt> We now interrupt our scheduled broadcast for an important announcement!

The actual December 19th maintenance announcement.  So rather than have XLGAMES prioritize addressing the actual issues and bugs which need to be fixed, they decide to sign off and push out an update which could just add on top of these existing/ongoing problems.  Also from what I understand, this Snowball Festival is yet another instanced content that will likely lag their instance server infrastructure (which is already under duress with the existing instanced content).  I have my popcorn, butter, and 3D glasses ready.

We now return to our regular scheduled programming…
