Ascent: Infinite Realm -> ELYON

Bluehole/Krafton and Kakao Games announced the renaming of Ascent: Infinite Realm to ELYON (Ascent Infinite Realm remains as a subheading).  As expected, the Line of Sight targeting has been replaced with a TERA derived non-target action combat system which they are branding as “Dynamic Combat”.  The original aerial combat focus of A:IR is being de-emphasized while the game world environment (which many including myself, found very lacking in terms of diversity) is being redone.

A development video was also released which shows off some of the changes including some of the production work required for the combat change (skill changes along with their associated animations and skill effects).  Small portions of the environment shown also revealed actual color (A:IR was notably very devoid of colors which just made it feel very dreary).

Basically, this is sort of turning into an updated version of TERA now; just without as many wacky races (even the name seems to have been derived from Elleon; one of the original heroes in the TERA storyline).  It remains to be seen what type of changes have been made to the story, the questing, and more importantly, the max level and end game progression.

Applications are being taken for beta testers for the upcoming Korean CBT that is slated to begin on April 11th (Korea local time).
