Lost Ark’s game director will likely be more than pleased with the first day numbers of the NA/EU peak concurrency, despite some early issues (primarily issues with Steam having connection issues which prevented players from getting the decryption key to unpack the game files), since the game saw a first day peak (and it would’ve been higher if everyone had been in the game client at launch versus many of us who were unpacking the game file for several hours).
The previous all time peak was the KR launch (~240K). Given the larger regional footprint of the NA/EU version, it’s no surprise the numbers are double. The game director threw out a lowballed number of ~250K where he’d be happy. And this is only for head start. A lot of the curious who don’t keep track of games like this early on, will be blowing up this number on Friday (and into the first weekend).
Basically, it also doesn’t matter which US region; this is a healthy population regardless of East or West. I think it was actually a mistake for AGS to not open a dedicated OCE region since they could’ve easily sustained a server or two, and not have to deal with inconvenient reset and event timers. Overall (and despite the early launch problems), everything else has been stable where it can still be considered a successful launch.
