The dreaded lag monster finally got me…

In recent weeks, I’ve been encountering numerous lag spikes such that I knew it was a matter of time before one of these would get me.

And it finally did…. but not my main characters (as I decided to take a break from playing them).  I was leveling a wizard on my other account.  I was actually tempting fate since earlier, I had been playing StarCraft 2, and the game auto paused on me several times.  But I wanted to get in a few more levels on this new wizard so I took her out for a run (but dropped it down to MP5 on nightmare).
I did my usual clear from the outer section of the map and then worked my way inwards.  Unfortunately, right by the Khazra Den was the Keywarden and those Savage Beasts.  At first, I’m doing fine but I then notice that my character isn’t responding normally.  I immediately realize that I’m lagging (but not the 1000+ms ones I’ve been seeing recently).  I’m right at the cave entrance and try heading into the cave, but I notice I can’t even click it to enter it.  I keep clicking, notice I’m now at half life, hit health potion, keep clicking the cave entrance…. dead.
In-game latency indicator was still green at that point….  auto screenshot from the client the moment I was slain:
Only after the “You Have Died” comes up on the screen (image below + some humor), does the indicator turn yellow.  Nice!
She was sporting a really nice Horadric Hamburger;  I suppose that Savage Beast wasn’t too pleased that one of its relatives may have been a part of that burger though….  Unfortunately, my wizard never had the opportunity to consume it before this premature death.  Ah well, such is life (and death) in Sanctuary….
