I know the original game has been out in other regions for several years now. Figured might as well give the closed beta a try.
They also have some extensive testing goals which is something I like to see. Folks know me by now when I take part in betas that actually highlight goals and want feedback (and aren’t just using it as marketing fluff). I don’t pull any punches and they can either take or leave that feedback.
UPDATE: Unfortunately only have been able to play this on the first day of its CBT so I cannot really give detailed impressions of the game beyond the earliest starter zone.
The artwork in this will be an acquired taste since it is cel-shaded (I thought it looked decent once I increased the resolution in settings). The combat is combo-oriented and fast action paced. The combat questing zones are also instanced; the hubs are where you see other players that aren’t in your party so this isn’t a persistent world type of MMO. I didn’t have time to get into the first dungeons or try the higher difficulty settings but it is all designed to be short sessions that keeps the player moving onwards.
The initial tutorial zones that I played were fun but I do have to admit that these type of brawler style games aren’t my top preference. I can see playing this occasionally with friends when you just want to knock out some monsters. How end game gearing will be like is probably a different matter though (Korean made so game systems in that area will be unsurprisingly grind focused).
