Some key highlights from K-TERA’s Level 70 Patch Notes

The new “Talyph” system enhances existing skills at levels 66, 68, and 70 (requiring Talyph Scrolls and gold).  Additionally, options unlock at levels 67 and 69 where each skill that can be unlocked (via Option Unlocking Scrolls), has 3 options (reminiscent of Lost Ark’s Tripod Skill system).

There is also a new dungeon entry limit system for party dungeons known as the “Adventure Token System” which utilizes a point system to determine dungeon entry.  It is meant to replace the existing daily limits (and associated entry reset scrolls) by turning it into a weekly point limit where entrance to a dungeon costs a certain amount of Adventure Token points (which regenerate both online and offline at a rate of 3 points every 3 minutes).  The maximum amount of points is 1,000 with a higher limit of 1,600 for VIP (Korea) players.  Solo dungeons (including quest instance ones) will retain their daily limit entries.

In simpler language, this is equivalent to a dungeon stamina system which is normally used for cash shop monetization (where players can purchase some sort of consumable to either increase their limit or quickly regenerate the points/gauge).  Nexon Korea hasn’t introduced anything like that so far but I would not be surprised if such items are introduced in the future.  As for NA/EU (when this does become available in March 2019), hopefully this won’t be abused by the respective publishers (En Masse Entertainment has been treading on some blatant cash shop decisions recently while Gameforge already went there in the past).

Notable changes also come to dungeons including lowering the difficulty for most dungeons requiring item level 435-455 with the exception of a few (Broken Prison, Dark Reaches Citadel, Lilith Keep Hard Mode, and Thaumetal Refinery Hard Mode).  Two pre-level 65 dungeons that were used for leveling are being removed (Level 62 Sabex Armory and Level 64 Macellarious Catacombs).  Also, finally some changes for the Ace Dungeons with the rewards better reflecting the current equipment growth system as well as an additional solo instance; Lilith’s Trial (Baracos’ and Akasha’s Trial both remain).

Open world monsters are changed to level 65 and higher in the following zones (current zone levels in parenthesis):  Balder’s Refuge (59-60) , Celestial Hills (21-25), Essenia (38-43), Ex Prima (62-63), and Val Elenium (53-58).

Guardian Legion Flight Missions also received an overhaul where the existing “To Prove Yourself Worthy” Vanguard Request are now separated into 3 types requiring 100,000 points to complete each of those missions.  The “Dominate Guardian Legion Flight Mission” Vanguard Request also requires 100,000 points (instead of interacting with just 150 objects).  I guess their data showed it was becoming the easiest Guardian Legion to farm without actually completing it since even I found myself dropping out of some missions once I hit the 150.

Another notable change is the prevention of crystal destruction (except jewelry/accessory slots) upon death (crystal binds will still remain relevant for the jewelry/accessory slot crystals).  The equipment related changes was something I noted in this other posting.

Since progression for the post level 65 quests require a character having completed awakening (which is gated behind having an item level of 439), adjustments were made with a new guide/tutorial quest chain.  Thus the awakening quest (Velik’s Banquet) is now unlocked without a specific item level required.  However, since it seems like the difficulty level of the content in that quest chain hasn’t been revised, there are new quests (along with relevant rewards) added to guide players so that they can get to item level 439 (it sounds like some sort of catchup provision but I am also not sure how the publishers like EME and Gameforge will handle it since some of the level up events for EME offer some pretty underwhelming level 65 rewards that don’t really help newer players).

Unfortunately, no real new zone, new stories, or even hints of the one that was previewed last year (near the bottom of the article just above the Q&A).
