Krafton’s latest (Q3) quarterly reports make it clear the company is moving away from MMORPG development (I’ve alluded to this many times before despite ongoing speculation of the company working on a TERA 2 which just does not exist).
Kakao Games will be shuttering the western version of Elyon next month (KR and SEA will continue to operate for the time being) while Krafton continues running the console version of TERA. How long both of these will continue is anyones best guess, but I believe neither will be in operation past 2024. This should finally put to rest any notion that the company plans to pursue any sort of TERA 2 title.
Games Industry.biz has a more complete breakdown of what the company is focusing on in terms of games (PUBG being a given, but some of the new initiatives they are currently working on), and studio acquisitions.
