This is an example of Kakao Games Europe trying to be sneaky since they are DESPERATE to make sure renewals of game subscription time for ArcheAge Unchained, do not fall off a cliff when the majority of the initial free game time expires in a few days (June 4th was the actual 180 day end date, but several extension times were added as compensation). That also has a direct impact on other key metrics including MAU, CCU, daily logins, and player retention (because zero game time means the player cannot even login).
The caveat emptor part is the “Bonus subscription coupons are only usable once per account for those who never purchased a subscription before“. Some folks immediately jumped on the offer and complained they didn’t receive the bonus coupon in their e-mail. The official response was that this promo is valid only on a CLEAN account with no prior subscriptions.
The previous free game time (which were given out as subscription coupons) and any compensation coupons, are all considered prior subscriptions. The wording of the promo was INTENTIONALLY MISLEADING (and if not, another reason why Kakao Games Europe is incompetent). Caveat emptor!
