XLGAMES in partnership with Kakao Games, unveiled their new site (pre-registration purposes) for the upcoming blockchain NFT version of ArcheAge, called ArcheWorld (aka ScamAge).
In addition to ArcheAge 2, this is the GARBAGE that Jake Song and the XL developers have been working on instead of addressing all of the issues in the original game (stop putting Song on any sort of pedestal; he had his time in the sun with the Lineage franchise and the initial premise of ArcheAge). This shameful GARBAGE is being pushed to a western audience because something like this cannot be released in South Korea. Which is ironic because XL has shown very little regard for their western audience for the ArcheAge IP, while doing an exceptional job at releasing buggy and exploitable code.
Kakao Games Europe will naturally be the publisher for this GARBAGE (since parent Kakao Games KR owns a majority stake in XLGAMES); these folks can’t even properly handle ArcheAge and ArcheAge Unchained. Even if this was all legitimate, I wouldn’t touch it because Kakao Games Europe is INCOMPETENT as a publisher.
This thing is going to attract a lot of scammers (the same ones who operate in the crypto space with their rug pulling scams) as well as those who believe they can play to earn crypto (on top of the entire NFT grift). Just reading the promo material on this site is BS buzzword red flag territory (it’s such a blatant sham they are trying to pull on their target demographic which partially is the ArcheAge player demographic as well as the whole “get rich quick” demographic).
What this thing needs to do is fail badly (and hopefully spare actual innocent players from being scammed out of their money) to send a signal to all of the other Korean design studios that the gaming community in the west does not want this stuff.
