I only wrote a few days ago about how Kakao Games Europe was as incompetent as Gamigo was. They’ve now truly exceeded both Trion and Gamigo.
Why? This… and more specifically the following:
Unfortunately, this led to a distribution of credit compensation for items that could not be transferred during the switch to the global build that was far above the intended amount.
Really? I did write back when they relaunched about receiving what seemed to be an excessive amount of credits but that was based on what they had calculated. That was in December. And it took them until this month to figure out maybe some of those numbers were off?
Maybe the light bulb finally went off when they were seeing little credit sales at all for both versions of the game because of this mistake of theirs. What did I say earlier about them trying to pull off more than they could chew in what was a relatively short period of time taking over the publishing from Gamigo?
So after todays maintenance, almost every player sees their credit balance reduced to what it was from Gamigo (and for whatever was spent with Kakao Games). Some folks have it far worse; they actually purchased credits from Kakao, and had those wiped out too (since it seems they are working from the original transfer data). And as expected, their official Discord was on fire (messages removed and people being banned). These folks are just plain incompetent and the worst out of both Trion and Gamigo. That is one hell of an accomplishment Kakao Games Europe. Congratulations.
A lot of players especially on legacy have likely spent a lot of their credits because the cash shop is integral there. Kakao Games acknowledges this is their mistake but now find themselves in a position of “trying to restore balance.” AAU has been less so since they haven’t introduced much of anything new into the credit shop since most everything there is put into the Manastorm Crystal shop. I mean they have all of the transaction logs but exactly how are they going to try to recover from this huge mistake of theirs? I can see these clowns imposing it on future credit or Patron subs on legacy (“oh, you overspent the amount of credits we had mistakenly overcompensated you for so you are going to have x-amount reduced until balanced is achieved”) and similarly with subscription renewals and credit purchases on Unchained.
The wiser thing at this juncture is for them to eat this mistake of theirs. They are already pissing off most of the remaining player base and likely have done another blow to subscription renewals on Unchained (which is already a pittance amount compared to the revenues generated from credit sales for marketplace purchases; a credit shop which Kakao Games has butchered in Unchained).
Myself, hopefully my remaining 186 days will cover up to the next server merge so that everything can be full kit by that process (if not, I guess I will just pack everything up myself and put the game away for awhile after that until they eventually decide to just find a way to merge the two versions together). These folks deserve the “vote with your wallet by closing it” treatment since they’ve proven themselves incapable of running this franchise properly in just the first 90 days when they needed to be on top of their game.
