Kakao Games Takes Over ArcheAge on December 2nd

On the heels of last weeks announcement, Kakao Games noted they will be officially taking over the publishing from Gamigo on December 2nd.  Gamigo in the mean time has posted critical information on the actual data transfer process and the schedule that will take place.  An important note is the following:

We have put in hours of work to ensure safe data transfer to find a way that you can continue playing. We had several discussions with the staff of Kakao Games to make the transfer happen. This means your progress will not be lost.

Your data saved until November 18, 2021 (with all your characters) will be encrypted and transferred to the new platform. All subsequently saved data until the final implementation at Kakao Games will thus not be transferred.

Game progress is only saved until November 18th (the game will still be available to play via Gamigo until Kakao takes over, BUT any progress after the maintenance on that day will not carry over).  Gamigo also has a FAQ on their forums with more information.  Key point is that credits will transfer over.  Guilds will also be disbanded and friends list not retained.  All land will also be lost on the transfer (Kakao will announce the land rush date and times).

Based on this info, it sounds like Kakao will be merging servers as part of this process (aka a mess on top of the actual transfer).  Kakao has yet to post any details of its own as to what will be happening on their side.  We’re also only getting one week to deal with packing everything up (I don’t trust leaving decor in place because people who didn’t for the server merge that happened last year, ended up having a lot of those items returned to them bound when they were originally unbound).  Oh well, here we go again (now I see why a lot of players end up quitting; some legacy players have been through this over 6 times now).
