Atlas Reactor To Be Shuttered on June 28, 2019

Gamigo (which acquired the assets of Trion Worlds late last year) announced they will be shutting down Atlas Reactor this summer.  As mentioned in that posting, I already expected Gamigo to eventually close down some of these acquired properties.

Atlas Reactor was designed and developed internally by Trion (and like most of their other published games, mismanaged at a higher level while also being a victim to Trion’s larger poor reputation).  Gamigo also didn’t retain a lot of the artists, designers and developers for Atlas Reactor, Defiance, and RIFT which exasperated the stagnant state of the game since the acquisition.

The irony here is that Gamigo’s library contains a lot of other “dead” titles (they’ve been sort of a graveyard of acquired properties) which tells me that Atlas Reactor must’ve been really devoid of active players for several months now.  It will be interesting to see which shoe drops next (Defiance or RIFT; my bet is likely Defiance).
