DiabloFans.com to Close in March

One of the main Diablo community sites (owned by Curse Network) will be shutting down on March 21st after a decade in service due to “the fading interest in current Diablo products and business realities for Curse”.

The site and its content will go into an archive mode (as a means to preserve that content and its history).  Myself, I never really involved myself with these community sites but knew how this site (as well as DiabloII.net which will continue trucking along) were once very active hubs once Diablo III launched (serving as somewhat saner alternatives to the official forums).

With D3 being in maintenance mode for awhile now (with inklings as far back as 2016 with a short respite for the Necromancer DLC in 2017 when it became obvious after that), it’s not surprising that community interest would fade since there really isn’t anything new to talk about or cover.  Blizzard Entertainment themselves did not help any with their flippant disregard for the franchise over the years (continually burning through the goodwill loyalty of those customers).

And with Blizzard making it known there won’t be any major frontline releases in 2019, the trend for this site would’ve likely continued to decline.  And so “another one bites the dust”… or as hardcore mode Diablo players know very well, “your deeds of valor will be remembered”.
