TERA Frontiers: Mobile version of TERA to be published by Kakao

As noted in my prior post regarding Bluehole’s KRAFTON brand, Red Sahara Studio which Bluehole acquired (for their version of TERA on mobile) earlier this year in March, now has signed a publishing deal with Kakao Games for TERA Frontiers.

While Bluehole had licensed the development rights for TERA M to Netmarble, the game did not perform as expected (in comparison to how well Lineage 2: Revolution did for Netmarble).  The mobile version of TERA which Red Sahara Studio has been working on for awhile now, is supposed to have the same large open world that is in the PC version (TERA M took place on a different time ark; 1000 years before the events in the PC version).  The game will use Unreal Engine 4 which sort of adds to the travesty that exists on the PC (so it is basically just milking the franchise at this point since it is pretty clear how Kakao will monetize this).

As also previously noted, Bluehole has more or less hitched itself to mobile (years late to the party in similar fashion as Blizzard is with Diablo: Immortal and their own added focus on the mobile market) with nothing else for PC except the delayed A:IR.  It seems most every game I’ve had a major interest in, ends up on the short end of the stick…
