K-TERA – Fishing comes to Arborea

While fishing has been a staple in many other MMO’s, TERA had no such thing.  Bluehole is finally bringing this to TERA (in K-TERA now; likely NA and EU will see this in early 2019).

As the above translated document (credit goes to the translator) for the original Korean dev note shows, there’s a progression system involved with upgrading fishing rods (with a 100% upgrade chance) which is tied to the rank of fish that can be caught.  Fish can be dismantled or used for cooking (to essentially craft a variety of combat potions).  Fish can also be sold for gold with a delivery mechanic that yields higher prices for the catch (there are associated daily limits for delivery which resets daily).  Rarer grades of fish can only be caught manually and not via AFK fishing.

Many of the fishing spots are in a variety of locations in the game world that no one really goes to nowadays which is a good thing (I’ve always been an advocate for activities that utilize that open world environment).

I realize there are going to be the usual complaints about Bluehole not working on actual real content but I need to disagree.  Even though it borrows from some of the other systems, this is still actually new content which offers something else to do in the game.
