TERA – Guardians of the Sky (EME) + Talent System Coming

August 14th is when this patch (72) goes live.  This brings the flying missions (two of them) to the Guardian Legion along with Pilot tokens where there is a Pilot’s Token shop.  This shop includes 2 Pegasus mounts as well as three flight acceleration skills (which operate as passives) that extend the duration of flight.  Each one needs to be learned in order to get the maximum which slows the flight duration decrease up to 50% when accelerating (these can be used with any flying mount).  There are also other rewards which the tokens can be redeemed for.

Talent (Trait) System

The talent system that has only been available in K-TERA (since October 2015) will also be coming in the future.  This is a max level alternative/extended progression system (similar to Paragon levels in Diablo III, Proficiencies in Devilian were derived from this system) where specialization experience is earned for accomplishing tasks (killing monsters, completing dailies, etc).  Points earned (once the XP bar is filled) can then be used towards leveling up a stat (sort of like when using skills points).

The lack of this system meant that classes in other regions had balance issues (like in K-TERA, ninjas were strong due to this but were bottom tier DPS elsewhere).  The primary reason this system was never released outside of Korea was due to the bugs and issues associated with the design.  Awakening (APEX) didn’t help since that was yet another system that was tuned with the talent system.

This should (presumably) allow Bluehole to streamline their development builds.  No timeframe is known as to when this will be deployed.
