One of the biggest things that annoys me is when I try to initiate some form of dialog with the hopes that the ones that I have had to listen to vent about the state of a particular game (one that happens to be on the ropes), would at least hop aboard and try to add their voice to that dialog.
When it ends up being only me, well what the hell do people expect when nothing is done to address that dialog?
I posted this on the Devilian forum for example and put a link to that in the Discord of the guild I’m in. CRICKETS…
It was the same with the open letter I wrote where I was hoping to see a bit more support by those who were still playing at the time.
My take is to put up or shut up. Even with Diablo III, I tried to at least provide ideas (like this free roam/open world one before Reaper of Souls was announced) even though I knew it wouldn’t amount to anything. I had my complaints back then about the state of the game but I tried to come up with some ideas on how to address those issues.
It was the same when I attempted to detail the disconnect issues that had more dire consequences for those playing hardcore (like I was doing at the time) because hardcore players would always complain about their characters getting killed by lag or disconnects but with only a few understanding that the underlying systems in the game did not do anything to deal with network latency. Instead of dialog, a few jackasses preferred trying to derail it.
After that, I deleted the main post and said screw it.
In a nutshell, I’m tired of dealing with communities that choose to just complain about stuff, but provide little in the way of positive dialog and ideas (and actually banding together in a show of strength as opposed to complaining about things where the right people won’t even see it or only see the same complaints rehashed).
As for Devilian, I know that I at least tried even though I made it clear that I’m no longer heavily invested in playing it. But I’ve reached that point of why I should even bother trying to stimulate dialog that others have no interest in taking part in (or prefer to rehash the same complaints). I think the best thing at this point is that Trion just throw in the towel and give this game an actual sunset date already.
