Devilian Mobile – It was nice knowing you :(

Since GAMEVIL is terminating the Devilian Mobile service sometime today, I loaded up the game for a final time (in Nox so that I could also record what exists before it all vanishes into the ether).

I never did reach the level cap (70) since the game play became mind numbingly mundane.  I do realize the amount of revamping that was done to various game systems by Bluehole Ginno which made it very different from the PC version but much of that was overshadowed by a simplified/linear campaign and equally uninspiring daily challenges.

A large number of updates never made it live (the other two archdemon battles, the rest of the guild features including GvG, and the real time raid).

Still, the Devilian franchise has been a big part of my personal gaming experience over the last 3 years in all of its forms (Korean, Thai, NA/EU PC MMO-ARPG and this mobile version).  So it still felt a little sad and depressing knowing this is it for the mobile version which lasted just a little over an year.

Likewise as I’ve written before, Bluehole Ginno is also no more (having been renamed to PUBG Corp) and the soul of Devilian, Ginno’s former CEO (Park Won Hee) is seeing much of his legacy disappear bit-by-bit.

The entire franchise is basically hanging by a thread now with the Thai version (in maintenance mode since the summer of 2016) and Trion’s version resembling what the Thai version looked like around June 2016.  While I hold out hope that there might be some positive news, realistically I already know what the future of this franchise is where it is more of a matter of when the plug will finally be pulled on the PC version.
