In just the first few days since the game soft launched, hardcore players were already blasting through the initial level 65 end game content.
For casual players like myself, I’ve only in the last few days geared myself in ancient tier items and performed a minimal level of enchanting, rerolling, and imprinting those items. I’m finally able to run Fabrice, Magic Gem, and Luery’s at level 5 solo.
I was also finally able to complete one of the quests for Blood Castle which requires completing it in 7 minutes. Better geared players are completing this in half the time as expected whereas I am ok with this slower progression. The following was my sub 7 minute Blood Castle run where I finally completed that quest.
I realized the time could have been faster (by at least 15 seconds) since during wave 4, I was sitting around waiting for wave 5 to begin when in reality, there were two more mages that had strayed down the hallway (being attacked by my summoned wolves).
I also made a few mistakes like dumping my bombardment at the wrong location during wave 9. And during the fight against Anilata, I had to stop dps’ing at one point when he was at 4 bars of health to avoid some incoming damage from one of his stronger attacks.
Overall, I’m satisfied with my casual solo progression so far. I’ve solo cleared the Mythic 1 difficulty dungeons before I was full ancient or had imprinted any pieces. The enchanting progression and leveling of pets/wings are all a calculated grind (due to re-entry limits). Running Lupa’s Labyrinth ad-nauseum (in order to level my artifact/acquire more fragments for to craft another type of artifact) is something I can stomach for only so much.
Basically, even a casual player like myself already sees the limited initial content for this OBT soft launch. It’s been much less of a gearing wall to climb compared to Devilian during its initial level 52 cap where soloing and also not taking advantage of the early hell dungeon bugs plus bugs with Agony Device (including the ability to farm trash mobs).
Webzen needs to release content at a relatively quick pace in order to keep player retention rates up.
UPDATE: managed to hit the 6:07 after reset due to having two of the Diablo III style conduit buff; in MU Legend’s case, it’s a quick lightning explosion that instazaps most everything.
