Games and the issues surrounding them (what this blog is about) are effectively just first world problems. I definitely have not forgotten what is really important when it comes to several recent natural disasters (Hurricane’s Harvey, Irma, and now Maria) as well as the recent earthquakes that have hit Mexico.
The real heroes are the first responders who risk their lives trying to save the lives of others (that includes the ongoing effort to rescue the children that are still alive in the collapsed school building in Mexico City).
I’ve been involved with All Hands Volunteers in the past (Japan 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami) in terms of on the ground relief efforts in Ofunato (ravaged by the tsunami) and found that experience personally rewarding. Once the timing is right, I’ll look at becoming involved with this organization again in at least one of these response efforts.
