Microsoft announced this 4K remaster at E3 (with improved game play and updated soundtrack) of the original that was launched back in 1997. The game will also include a classic mode of the 1997 version.
RTS genre games are probably my 2nd favorite (following adventure games): I originally played Broderbund’s Ancient of Art of War a lot back in the 80’s; a game which paved the way for future real time strategy franchises like Warcraft, StarCraft, Command & Conquer, and Age of Empires (which I also played early on).
Microsoft will be running a closed beta (which looks like will be subject to an NDA). Their Age of Empires site is running a bit slow due to the traffic from people trying to sign up for the beta.
