Diablo III – Necromancer DLC will likely go on sale between S10 and S11

Blizzard announced the timeline for the ending of Season 10 and the start of Season 11.

Season 10 ends on June 23rd (local time in each region) and Season 11 begins 4 weeks later on July 20th (local time in each region).

As I mentioned previously, the recent marketing push (cinematic trailer release + additional details about the pack + Heroes of the Storm cross promotion) along with the server slam (stress test), pointed to an imminent release.

The 4 week gap between the two seasons represents the time when the DLC will probably be launched.  The necromancer is currently available again on the closed beta (so I will be finally finish my leveling to try out the different sets) and will likely remain that way unless further issues are found.  Expect pricing and actual launch date to be announced closer to the ending of Season 10 (possibly during the cross promotion which runs from June 13th-26th).

From what I recall, there normally was not this long of a gap between seasons so it would not be surprising the launch will take place after the HotS cross promotion ends.  Activision Blizzard’s 2nd quarter 2017 also closes on June 30th so they may want to book the strongest initial demand in their Q2 earnings (with the follow through happening in their Q3 while leaving Q4 for holiday promotions).

Releasing it during this gap will allow players (who haven’t played it in closed beta) who plan to purchase it, the ability to play the class in non-seasons to get an actual feel for it prior to the launch of Season 11.
