Diablo III Necromancer Beta

I really had no desire to play the Necromancer beta because generally speaking, the game doesn’t do much for me anymore.

Furthermore, that other part of me automatically goes into QA mode where I begin mentally taking notes of issues which I would then normally begin to write more detailed feedback on (which for this team, is an exercise in futility).

So it was suggested by a friend that I play the class through the story.  No grinding of adventure mode to level up that way while I can experience the story parts related to the class.  Plus since I haven’t played this game since November 2015, I really have lost touch with playing this period.

So I decided to give it a go and will be stream recording it directly to YouTube (just strictly game play).

The class turned out to be fun to play (way more than I expected).  Since I don’t intend to go down “that rathole” with overanalyzing things, part of that is low leveling through the story line (which unfortunately I haven’t encountered much with the necromancer’s background yet) as well as discrete design/balance considerations for portions of the test demographic.

Limited closed betas like this are also considered marketing opportunities to try and re-engage players so part of the random selection process involves sending invites to inactive accounts.  It’s not always about specific system configurations, large Twitch streamers or YouTuber’s, players that have thousands of hours of constant game play.  If their data shows no beta login activity, it is no loss to them as they’ll just send out more random invites to cover their “testing” needs.

I fully realize the level 70 situation will be different as well as the game play meta after that (which is why I wanted to level up through the story).  I also realize how much slower going it is by not just running rifts (so I am leveling a female necromancer via adventure mode on the side) so that I can at least get a small feel for how the class feels at max level.  I’m also avoiding being power leveled to 70 to see how the play feels dinging every few levels.

Playing this beta hasn’t given me the urge to go back and play my main account at this time though.
