Devilian Exchange (DEX) is an exchangeable item that can be purchased for $9.99 and converts into 1,250 credits that can be used in the Marketplace. DEX can be given away, listed on the auction house and sold for gold (which is what some players are purchasing DEX for instead of just regular credits; though the selling price for gold has been dropping going from around 70 gold for 1 DEX to around 50 as of today). Thus it is also a way for players to use their in-game gold to purchase DEX on the auction house (see note below) to convert to credits for use in the Marketplace.
The only bad thing is that gold sellers could be manipulating the market (basically they are now using verified accounts themselves to spam chat so they could possibly be purchasing DEX as a means to get verified, and might be dumping that DEX onto the auction house and dropping the asking price for gold while advertising 100 gold for what would amount to half the price compared to purchasing DEX). Basically, for legit players using DEX as a means to convert it to in-game gold, the amount of gold they can get is going to vary wildly. Anything below 100 gold is seriously a losing proposition because it is trivial to get that amount just playing to max level.
But this is one reason why I’m dumping unneeded rares onto the auction house and acquiring as much currency so that I can just purchase DEX on the auction house to convert to credits as there will be more cosmetics items and other conveniences coming in the near future. Higher level content also does begin rewarding actual gold rather than percentages in silver; I’m just trying to take a leisurely pace so as to not burn out getting to the current gear cap (which will become outdated once they do the first level cap bump – which is probably to level 54).
Note: there’s a lot of misinformation regarding what “free accounts” can and cannot do. The following is official information of what non-verified accounts cannot do.
- Your in-game megaphone will be a muted-phone, because it is disabled. Indoor voices, always!
- You can only whisper with friends.
- You will be able to purchase wares from the auction house, but you won’t be able to sell your own.
- You can’t initiate trades in-game, but you can always agree to them.
- Our postman will deliver mail to you, but won’t be able to accept your outgoing letters.
- You won’t be able to request marketplace items from strangers, but you can always send pleas to your friends.
