Devilian Tips

I posted some tips on the Devilian forums as to leveling but they really shouldn’t be taken verbatim because it depends on ones characters capabilities and a players playing preference.  Evoker is currently the fastest solo farming class followed by Cannoneer (it’s why I’m playing these both first).  Cannoneer has what I call the most visceral combat though (I even like its Devilian form once I’ve set the controls for the skills to my liking and gotten some Devilian gear).

Infinite Hunting Grounds are a good spot to grind for XP and coins but you need to be able to outgear the content so that you can farm the objectives quickly 5 times.  I normally do the preceding zones (so I don’t do Kafka Canyon until I’m at least high level 30’s) and then run each 3 objectives the 5 times.  Fastest way to do it solo is as in any game like this; aggro/group up mobs and then AOE them.  I only spend my coins at the vendor IF I really need a slot item.  Note that the silver/gold intake here isn’t that great compared to running the quest.  Also, if there is a guild occupying that zone, that zone also becomes an open world PvP area BUT only if you select the channel that has the tiny little icon next to it (that will display only when there the area is actually occupied).

Abyssal Tower (both basic and challenge) should be run each day for the rewards (XP, Abyssal Essense, etc).  Dungeons run using an Invasion Ticket (just farm the boss for drops).  What I do recommend for completely new players is to at least one their first character completely through the questing to get an idea of how that part of the game works (amount of rewards, types of bonus rewards, etc).  It should become obvious how the quest chaining is designed to keep you constantly playing (and you need to know when to just stop to prevent getting sucked into that addictive MMO aspect).  Most side missions are for objectives near the main one but I don’t do the tedious ones.

Gearing wise, I don’t bother using the auction house for buying stuff until closer to level cap (I set myself a limit to not spend more than 10 gold per character total leading to level 52) to fill out some slots (primarily weapon and chest armor).  I do dump unID’s rares there for other classes that I won’t be playing for awhile (like Berserker and Shadow Hunter) or duplicate low level drops for the ones I am playing.

I try to save all my area coins for conversion to the current highest zone in the game (Misteye) so that once I hit level 50, I can get the slot I’m missing.  Obviously, anyone who has been playing in beta for long enough will have even more tips (and no doubt there will be many who have well guarded secrets as to the best farming methods in this game).

Healing potions have two separate cooldowns; one for instant and the other for partial heal and remaining heal over time (so it is worthwhile to reserve two spots on your skill bar).

End game is going to be typical; getting better gear.  And that is where the MMO side of the game becomes more apparent as that means spamming dungeons at their most highest levels to get purple (i.e. uniques/legendaries).  Generally at level 52, you start doing Heroics to get Fallen Star rares.  Note that not all dungeons are currently setup for multiple tiers (they plan on updating this as well as probably unlocking some of the other dungeons that are currently not active).

This (better gear as well as all the support materials needed for increasing resistances, artifacts) of course is tied to other end game activities such as non-Devilian PvP, guilds (and guild wars), open world boss fights, being able to run other challenge modes to attain their rewards, attaining wealth, etc.  Basically, end game activity is however you choose.  For folks like myself who typically do not play MMO’s, I’m not going to be engaging in a lot of that and instead just gradually getting all my heroics.  Reason I don’t want to invest a lot of time is because they did mention the level cap will be increasing some time in 2016.

As for Devilian form gear, farming Infinity Hunting Grounds with Aira’s Blessing activated (it can be gotten as a reward or short term ones purchased via the Marketplace).  These sell well on the auction house).  A lot of players totally ignore gearing up their Devilian form.

Those with Patron (like subscribers or those with Founder’s Pack) really ought to purchase the Remote Warehouse Ticket and Remote Auction House Tickets from the vendor in Asperon (it has a big blue “P” icon on the map); it’s free for Patrons and a huge time saver.  Likewise, another worthwhile acquisition is a non-expiring Nanus pet.  One of the earlier quests does reward a free 7-day one (and a later login reward offers a pet box with longer 15-day pets).  The reason I ended up using some of my credits on one is it picks up all the loot; it doesn’t seem like much of a quality of life improvement but once I began using it, I didn’t notice how much I missed it until I forgot to switch back from the corgi after selling stuff.

Which leads me to my other tip.  I’ve heard some players recommending salvaging items (for Magic Dust) versus selling them for silver.  White items cannot be salvaged so those are always sold.  Magic Dust is mainly used to craft Talisman Boxes.  The thing is that salvaging items costs silver.  Basic green items usually give just 1 or 2 Magic Dust while rare blue items usually also gives an area coin plus 1 or 2 Magic Dust.  Talisman Boxes are RNG heavy (most of the cards you will get will be basic one star ones) and is basically gambling away a lot of valuable silver/gold.

Another thing players forget is to collect their daily rewards (which are based on the total amount of points you earn from your dailies) including their daily Patron box.  Again, the game doesn’t hold your hand.  It’s part of the learning and discovering process that is involved and a conscious design decision to get players to login everyday as part of the continuous player engagement process.
