Chest spawns reduced in Core of Arreat, Briarthorn Cemetary, Battlefields of Eternity, Crag of Eternity.
Additional bonus of 25% chance for legendaries to drop in Nephalem Rifts.
Sure, some folks who were abusing this chest farming method are whining on the forum about this; but it needed to be done to bring the focus back into killing monsters for loot. Lot of folks who took advantage of this are already well ahead of the curve in terms of items and materials.
The disadvantage of doing this for quick gratification of items isn’t much different than when many of us geared up via the auction house; it moves their upgrade curve upwards. And that short term gratification is going to be felt from just playing the game where it’s not going to feel as rewarding. This is why I didn’t take part in this chest farming (as I don’t want to short circuit things any more since there is already wild RNG to deal with).
All I care about is seeing general progression every time I play (like today, I went from 480k unbuffed sheet damage to 520k with a rare weapon on my main). I still haven’t even begun to enter the legendary/set part of the upgrade for my main yet, so my baseline is looking pretty good considering I haven’t short circuited my reward/upgrade loop.
