This game is full of them; where rares aren’t so rare, where legendaries aren’t that legendary, and where common debris isn’t that common.
The most ironic part in these last few days before the auction houses shut down, is how reversed things are. These last few days, I’ve been making bank for example, by being one of those offloading the majority of my flawless squares for a huge windfall. I made almost 100 million gold just selling off most of my topazes for example when they were still over 25k each. I’ve also been selling most of my diamonds (I craft enough to make stars) for easy gold.
And right now, items are topsy turvy where white ones are more valuable than most magic and rares.
I’ve been throwing up whatever normal/superior whites I’ve found onto the AH’s where they sell immediately for around 35-40k a pop. At one point, salvaging magic items (exquisite essences) was more profitable than tears from rares when they were selling for 4k each (that has since corrected itself).
The funniest part in all of this is that pre-2.0, I rarely even played the AH game (never flipped items and only sold a few decent ones on hardcore, which I traded some gold at a favorable conversion rate over to softcore). Furthermore, all of this crafting material (except Veiled Crystals and Arcane Dust) will be useless in less than 10 days when the expansion launches (useless unless they have a system in place like how one could upgrade every 10 Pages of Jewelcrafting to 1 Tomes of Secret in 1.0.x).
I’m probably going to sell a couple hundred million gold before this weekend is over to pay for my Collectors Edition. And that’s the strangest part in all of this, where I’m finally making use of the RMAH as it is coming to a close.
