Movement speed anomaly (Mac client only)

I’ve been noticing some strange movement speed oddity with the new character(s) that I’m leveling which I thought was my imagination at first. I tried to record it but the movement speed results in enough overhead to cause the framerate to drop on the client while recording (thus the issue I’m trying to capture isn’t possible).

Basically, the character has around 23% movement speed. The actual movement within the game client is more like around 35% movement speed though (to give an idea, it’s not as fast as what a fleeting shrine provides a character with 24% movement speed). The weird thing is it isn’t constant. Sometimes, the movement speed is what 23% normally looks/feels like. Then suddenly, my character is moving at the faster rate (the character detail sheet remains the same throughout).

The way it looks is like those times a character experiences some minor desync and quickly catches up to its actual location once the server and client positioning is in-sync again.

However, whatever that is happening on the client, isn’t resulting in a desynchronization on the server since I can play normally (there is no rubberbanding issues going on as a can keep moving, attacking stuff, picking stuff up; and it’s all happening in real time). This is happening only on the Mac version of the client as I later tried it with the Windows client, and noticed the movement speed felt/looked normal.

December 18th Update:

I did additional testing using my monk with and without the Fleet Footed passive. With the passive, its movement speed is way faster than the 34% my character sheet is showing (it’s around the speed of what a Fleeting Shrine provides on my usual 24% movement speed). Again, I’m not able to reproduce this on the Windows client where it is moving at the expected percentage.

Dunno, if this doesn’t get fixed, I won’t mind since this since it feels much better.

Oh, when I pickup a Nephalem Globe (and get to 3 stack), my movement speed goes through the roof on my Mac. I’m beginning to think there is something with my specific configuration though that is causing me to see this increased movement speed (which shouldn’t be happening). It’s kind of disconcerting too because even now when I was just playing, the speed went back to what is the norm for a very short while, and as soon as I got into combat, my pacing picked up again.

But it’s not because I’m using something like Scramble (or other similar skills that increases movement speed temporarily when attacked). It’s basically all my characters acting this way (but they play at normal speed when I tried from the Windows client).

But yeah, if it stays bugged like this for me, I wouldn’t mind! 🙂
