.. and I wonder if my luck will run out before I can even reach Paragon 30. I’ve posted recently about some major lag spikes that occurred (once right after I had taken out an elite pack where I ended up de-synching from the server) and one this weekend when it occurred while I was still fighting an elite pack). This time, it wasn’t lag though.
Yesterday after finishing my work, I decided to play SC2:HoTS instead of D3 (though I was thinking of doing a quick run to see if I could get more essences or maybe a brimstone in the process). Didn’t really feel like playing D3 though so I fired up SC2 instead. Around 15 minutes into my campaign, I see a nice message popup above my avatar on the bottom left saying that my connection to Battle.net has been lost. I then get a nice dialog which says that while I can continue with my campaign (offline mode), that any achievements I earned will be unavailable until I connect back to the service. Another message then pops up on the left saying that Achievements are currently unavailable while you are offline.
I check and see that I had lost all network connectivity (no sync on cable modem but digital cable television still going fine so the issue was between my cable modem and the CMTS at the cable companies headend). So I continued playing SC2 and around 10 minutes later, see some messages to the left saying that I had reconnected to Battle.net and that Achievements were available again.
First thoughts that naturally crossed my mind is that it would be nice if D3 was like this, and that I managed to dodge another bullet with this wizard (it would be number 5). Anyone else want to share their own story of how they lucked out by not playing the game one day where they avoided a sure fire death because they lost their Internet connection, computer crashed, power outage occurred, etc?
